In the early 1700s, doctors exhumed and autopsied a number of suspected vampires in Eastern Europe.
Read their true, strange findings.
The Vampire Autopsies is a book of actual autopsy reports of suspected vampires from the 1700s. The reports make for some strange reading. Many of the exhumed bodies were seemingly undecayed, often with fresh blood in their stomachs. Due to their limited understanding of how bodies decay, doctors were mystified. When these reports were leaked to the press, a genuine Vampire Panic erupted.

This was the moment when the idea of the vampire as we know it entered the public consciousness, and all of our vampire lore traces back to these reports. Yet the reports themselves have been nearly forgotten, lost in obscure archives. The book presents the surviving reports in a collectible, hardcover volume for the first time, with the original reports, transcripts, and English translations.
